Sale: Theia's Jewels - Multi Gemstone and Sterling Earrings
ON SALE: Down from $445
Theia, Greek Goddess of Sight and Vision, was one of the twelve titans, a daughter of earth goddess Gaia, and Uranus, god of the sky, Theia is also considered a goddess of precious metals and gems. It is only fitting that she be the inspiration for these earrings.
I first tried crafting prong-settings in the early days of my smithing career when I was just learning the trade. They were tedious and finicky, and I have dreaded the thought at creating them since. Nine years later and I can see the difference in my skills! Fourteen hand-fabricated prong settings and four bezel settings hold 18 gorgeous gemstones in succession in what are easily some of the most beautiful earrings I think I have ever made!
I began by arranging the gems, nearly all gifted from either my mother or maternal grandmother, both of whom adore jewels as much as I. Once I decided on the layout, I measured the stones and calculated the possibility of purchasing pre-fabricated prong settings. The cost was absurd and none of the various shapes matched in style, so using all of the sterling wire I had on hand, I challenged myself to face one of my biggest fabricating fears and make them myself. (Next fear is flush setting stones, I'll get there.) Each setting took hours, between the measuring, cutting, arranging, placements, soldering, smoothing, filing, polishing, shaping the prongs, and actually setting each stone. The style of the setting is unlike quite anything I have seen available, and that is down to the limited amount of wire, a little creative innovation!
These are approximately 4" in length, from the top of the hook to the bottom gem. They are surprisingly lightweight, will not weigh down your earlobes; you'll hardly notice you're wearing them! Well, except for the way they will graze your throat and collarbones in the most delicate and elegant way! Earring hooks are French hooks and include clear rubber backings.

While there are various properties and interpretation for gemstones, these are a few of the most prominent:
-Amethyst has long been known to soothe and strengthen the wearer, grounding and promoting personal power, protection, and healing. It purifies the negative and increases one's mental clarity, inner peace, and psychic/spiritual abilities.
-Rainbow moonstone, so named for its celestial appearance, is a stone with feminine energy and is often used to deflect negative energy, ease emotional trauma, and balance masculine and feminine energies within both men and women. It is also said to clear the mind, and aid in peaceful sleep and lucid dreaming, depending on the wearer's needs.
-Garnet is highly invigorating, grounding, and centering. It represents "primordial fire" and is also used to spark love and passion. It is also a highly protective semi-precious gemstone.
-Prasiolite opens and stabilizes the heart chakra, promotes an intuitive capability coupled with love. It is a stone of transformative energies, turning negative energy to positive without releasing it to the atmosphere. Prasiolite inspires creativity, attracting success, prosperity and abundance.
-Peridot is believed to be the stone of compassion, bringing balance and harmony to relationships, the internal workings of the self, and most mercifully; a restful sleep. It is also said to promote good health, happiness and creativity. Most incredibly, it is believed to be an incredibly powerful cleanser; removing toxins and negativity of every nature from one's being, whether it be physical or emotional. And as it is the color of life, it only makes sense to promote growth of every kind.
-Topaz is used to deflect bad luck, especially in love. It is used to attract luck and optimism and to recognize genuine love, allowing you to distance yourself from those in your life who do not genuinely care for you. It's also just a genuinely gorgeous gem!
